Breathtaking, Peaceful Hotel Across the Bay from Maputo
We came here to spend a Sunday outside of Maputo. The location of the hotel is splendid just outside of the commotion next to the ferry area in a secluded section of the beach. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. You can see Maputo in the distance across the bay. There is a cute dock leading out into the ocean. There is a long stretch of beach to enjoy a nice walk while at the hotel. The buffet lunch was delicious serving up lots of sides and grilled seafood and meat. The staff were all very attentive and the management extremely accommodating as we came with a very large group. There is also a nice and clean pool to cool down during the hot day. I hope to go back soon to stay for a weekend.

A very special birthday in a special place!
We were 14 of us, come to celebrate my birthday and we were absolutely not deceived.
The two penthouses were specious and clean, the personnel was very nice, welcoming and professional, and the general feeling was that of being home away from home with a much better view!
No words can explain my very own satisfaction. It was way more than I had expected for the price. The quality was just top level!.

Excellent Venue and Service
Was there for a business trip - absolutely fantastic rooms with great care to detail and the most amazing views. I was particularly blown away by the service. Patricia is a gem and we had the most attentive waiter, Daniel, who always went the extra mile to deliver top quality service.

An oasis just outside of Maputo, perfect for conference groups
I organized a small conference "retreat" with the helpful assistance of the Catembe Gallery Hotel staff. They were able to accommodate all of our needs and even make a few last minute changes for us without any hesitation. The staff arranged transportation from Maputo all the way to the hotel, which was a very quick process as we feared long waits at the ferry, etc. Our conference participants were extremely pleased with the location, as it allowed them to be fully engaged and focused in the training activities while the beautiful grounds (pool, lounge chairs, garden, etc.) and view provided them with a nice break from busy Maputo. Our conference was fully catered with an excellent variety of food offerings and the kitchen staff went above and beyond to accommodate the vegetarian in our group. The meeting room facilities were excellent, plenty of bottled water and a substantial coffee break were provided along with all the necessary training materials: flip chart paper, a projector and screen -exactly what we needed! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Catembe Gallery Hotel for conference / training groups.

What a hidden jewel!
We discovered Catembe Gallery Hotel a few years ago by chance when we took the ferry to Catembe to get away from busy Maputo. And then suddenly we found ourselves in the Colonial times of Portugal. I just loved the feeling when i walked in this authentic hotel! The rooms were also nice and clean, the staff was extremely friendly (the frontdesk guy went out of his way to help my husband to connect on the internet with his laptop as he urgently needed to check on his emails and roaming in Mozambique is extremely expensive) and the view... that's just amazing! Imagine seeing Maputo from the sea side at night, and then imagine having breakfast on a jetty on the sea. This is just priceless!
We went a few more times, also took the kids, and each time we can see the efforts the owners undertook to keep the hotel up to standard. They did build little chalets on the beach with a huge sandpit for the kids to play in (the beaches in Maputo are not that clean!)
We are looking forward to the bridge, as i do admit it is quit a mission, although big fun, to take your car on the ferry.
Keep it up Gallery Hotel, we will be back soon!

“Holiday feel on our door step”
This year my husband and I celebrated New Year’s Eve at Catembe Gallery Hotel with friends. We were glad that we took the package of accommodation, party, buffet dinner and brunch. The food was very good, with a variety of Portuguese, local and international dishes. I particularly enjoyed the Brunch on the 1st of January. It was great! The DJ played great music, if a tad too loud for our liking. The kids were kept very busy the whole time in the pool, building castles on the beach and kayaking. The hotel is rightly famous for its gorgeous views. We had a room under the chalets and woke up to the sound of the waves lapping against the terrace and view of Maputo. Very comfortable bed and good vibe! All in all a great start for a new year!

Total Relaxation.....Total Bliss
We love staying at the Catembe Gallery Hotel. Just sitting on our balcony looking out to sea with vibrant Maputo in the distance. The waves rolling in....the peace and quiet. Perfect place to totally wind down and go into relax mode. Throw away your watch. Throw away your phone. Enjoy the pool. Lie doing nothing at all. Have a cold beer by the bar. Eat delicious Prawns with a glass of cold white wine. Sleep in comfy beds. Our favourite place to be. We have been coming here for over 10 years now and love the place every time we come. Sad we have to be leaving now and heading to Ponta Do Ouro. But we will be back again and again and again......

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Gallery. The staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are comfortable and spacious and the view of Maputo across the bay is fantastic, especially at night. Catembe is a quiet place compared to Maputo so you get a good rest.

This was the highlight of our visit to Maputo. The view from our room was breath taking. The staff were very helpfull and always polite. There is much more to do than just sleeping. With the ocean on your doorstep and kite surfing as well... Definately coming back for a personal holiday.

Catembe Gallery hotel is situated in a beautiful area of Mozambique. The surroundings are spectacular and the hotel in itself is classy. The food was also good. The room was very comfortable and warm and the staff very friendly. So all in all, a pretty welcoming establishment in a beautiful area of Maputo.
